August 17th 2007: the Movimento Verde Eufémia
makes the first civil disobedience action against GMOs in Silves, Algarve (the first GM Free Region in Portugal). This non-violent direct action raised the awareness of Portuguese society to the problem of the cultivation of GMOs, which already occupy an area of more than 4000 hectares.

Esta acção directa não-violenta chamou a atenção da sociedade portuguesa para o problema do cultivo de transgénicos, que ocupa já mais de 4000 hectares do território.
